Daiichi introducedthe Daiichi 1170 Standard Dry Fly Hook as an improvement to the standard 94840. The advantages of the 1170 include high carbon steel for more strength and sharpness; chemically sharpened needlepoints for superior penetration and a smaller barb that is approximately 40% of the wire. Daiichi hooks are made of the finest high-carbon steel, which is hardened and tempered to an exacting formula that makes for a long point life and a very strong hook. The hooks use a 12-degree constant taper ground needle point eliminating irregularities in shape, assuring no weak spots and gives amazing speed of penetration.
